What to Expect

Beginning therapy can feel like a big step. The first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and to better understand what has brought you to therapy. During this session, I conduct an initial assessment to identify your concerns and begin developing goals that feel meaningful and appropriate. From there, we move forward together based on your needs.

If the session is for a child or adolescent, a parent or caregiver is generally present for the first appointment. Depending on the concerns, I may meet with the parent and child together and/or separately in future sessions, while maintaining a collaborative approach focused on supporting the child.

Therapy is an ongoing and flexible process. Over time, we will check in about progress, revisit goals, and adjust our work as needed. I may also ask for your feedback about what feels helpful, as your experience is an important part of the therapeutic process. My goal is to create a supportive space where you feel understood and guided throughout our work together.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a powerful part of the healing process. I strive to offer a warm, non‑judgmental environment where you feel comfortable being yourself and sharing what may feel difficult to talk about. Many clients describe our work together as supportive, thoughtful, and collaborative.

My approach is insight‑oriented and compassionate. I work to help you better understand how past experiences and unresolved conflicts may be influencing your present thoughts, feelings, and relationships. At the same time, I gently challenge you to look at what may be holding you back from reaching your goals, while providing support and practical tools along the way.

When working with children, I use developmentally appropriate and play‑based techniques to help them express their thoughts and feelings in a way that feels natural and safe. I work closely with parents and caregivers, offering guidance and tools that can be carried into daily life at home and school.

Across all ages, my focus is on helping individuals and families feel heard, understood, and empowered. Therapy is not about being told what to do, but about working together to create greater awareness, connection, and positive change.
